He was born in June 1957. He got his master’s degree in Gongbi Portrait Painting from Chinese Painting Department, Central Academy of Fine Arts and his doctor’s degree in Chinese fine arts history from Fine Arts Department, Nanjing Arts Institute. He is a member of the Jiu San Society. He was ever dean of School of Fine Arts and dean of Arts Institute, Dalian University, and was a professor of School of Art and design, Wuhan Institute of Technology. He is now a professor in School of Design, Jiangnan University. Huang Peijie （1957- ）   　In his early years, he was a student of Liu Lingcang, a famous Chinese Gongbi portrait painter and professor in Central Academy of Fine Arts and he was also mentored by Guo Muyi, Mr. Liu’s wife, a famous painter of Beijing Rong Bao Zhai Studio and an expert in ancient painting reparation. He learned a lot about gongbi portrait painting from both of them. In 1994, he became a graduate student of Professor Bo hu, who was the director of gongbi portrait painting studio in Chinese Painting Department, Central Academy of Fine Arts and also a former student of Mr. Liu. After his graduation, he followed Mr. Liu’s advice and didn’t rush to establish his own style; instead he tried to improve his own artistic taste by all means and became a doctor student of Professor Shuzhong Lin in Nanjing Arts Institute in 2000. He studied Chinese fine arts history and tried to integrate theory and practice to innovate gongbi portrait painting.
